August 31, 2020: Young At Risk (YaR) Day 2020 celebrated at Bosco Boys Home.
Every year on August 31, the Don Bosco Yar Forum team, Delhi launches a theme/campaign that sets the tone for the events and activities of the year as regards protection and upliftment of the poor and marginalized youth. This year the theme chosen was “PREVENT TRAFFICKING OF CHILDREN” return my dreams break my chains.
The day at Bosco Boys Home began with a meaningful prayer service after which an introductory video (home production) was screened for the children highlighting certain concepts: the act, means and purpose behind Human/child trafficking.
A movie entitled Jhalki was screened for the children-a powerful film that explores a delicate subject like child trafficking and child labour. It sets the precedent of a girl-child superhero without a cape in search of her brother and eventually rescuing him. Mr. Kailash Satyarthi’s life-time work of his crusade against child trafficking and child labour gets crystallized into one smooth story of conviction, courage and love. What gets questioned in the process is the inhuman practice of the people reaping benefits from the racket.
Thereafter, a discussion was held for the students which was animated by the staff members in groups: Questions pertaining to the reality of Child trafficking, some inputs from the film etc. The children were then asked to express their views through charts and posters. All along our staff was present to guide and animate them. At around 3:30 pm, the YaR National office, Delhi, launched the official poster for the event and a couple of speeches and performances from different Don Bosco Child Care institutes (CCI) pan-India were presented.
A word of thanks and appreciation to our staff Ms. Vamakshi Painter & Ms. Meena for conceptualizing and organizing this event.
