On 28th September, 2018 from 12 pm to 1.30 pm the students and the management of Thakur College of Engineering and Technology, Kandivli (TCET), as part of their educational and outreach activity invited the boys of Bosco Boys Home for an educative visit to their Institute. The College council was responsible for organizing this event by which they could help out the boys of Bosco Boys Home and give them an opportunity and a platform to nurture, learn and gain knowledge through this and get accustomed to the various Engineering fields of Mechanical Department, Telecommunications, Electronics, Digital and Automobile Engineering.
The boys were thrilled and exited to explore and learn the various Engineering Departments and its work processes and the beautiful campus itself. The Auditorium, C-Dac Authorised training centre (Centre of Advanced Learning). The whole programme and the activities were well arranged under the able guidance of the college council and coordinated and supported by the team of the faculty members of the Institute.
The boys were also taken by the Volunteers of Thakur College through an educative session from Computers to Automobile Engineering Department. The boys explored through various departments and were taking down notes which were explained to them by the Professors. The Mechanical Engineering Department HOD Prof. Iqbal Murgavkar explained meticulously the various techniques of mechanical engineering. Prof Iqbal asked boys what they aspire to become in life and explained to them that sound engineering knowledge in the field of computing through effective use of modern tools, ethical attitude, lifelong learning habits and social sensitivity toward understanding any particular course is needed to qualify and to excel in any trade.
Prof Iqbal told them “Everyone has right to dream but to accomplish it, one needs to work hard…and without education it is Impossible”. Mr. Yash Bohra, the Automobile Instructor explained to the boys about the various function of Automobile. This was an interactive session in which boys asked various question related to automobiles and history of cars and its spare parts. After this session the boys were taken to Telecommunication centre. The session was conducted by Prof. Archana Despande. She highlighted various work TV’s and how it works, electricity and how current passes and various function of the wire, the functions about batteries, its colour combinations and how the colour combination work and also the digital communication system: Transmitter source input (Modulator) and Reconstructed Signal output for receiver— Demodulator. She also explains the use techniques, skills, how to use modern tools which are necessary for designing.
She concluded by saying, “Communication is the Key to Unlock Your Life. If you want excel and join this field. You need to commit ourselves in studies and work hard toward your goal.”
This whole visit was knowledgeable and educative. It created positive impact on the boys. One of the boys Prince Chavda shared, “Many things attracted me in the visit, I also aspire to become an engineer one day and for this I will work very hard.”
