Rakshabandhan is an Indian festival marking the love and affection between brothers and sisters. A symbolic Rakhi (a piece of decorated thread) is tied by the sister on the hand of her brother while imploring God’s blessings upon him for strength and protection.

At Bosco Boys Home, we weren’t sure as to how the festivities would proceed this year because of the Pandemic. However, we were fortunate to have a group of Women from “Nashabandhi Mandal Maharashtra”, headed by Mrs. Disha Kalambe who arrived at our institute to celebrate this festival with us.

They symbolically tied Rakhis on the hands of our boys and performed an Aarti. Mrs. Disha Kalambe took the opportunity to speak about the festival and her organization. Mr. Datta Gade, our staff, thanked her on behalf of the institute. Fr. Diego Nunes, the Vice-Rector, presented her with a memento.
“I don’t have a family of my own, remarked one of the boys, “but at Bosco Boys Home, everyone is family to me. I’m happy that we get an opportunity to celebrate and experience all festivals.”
Thank you to Mrs. Disha Kalambe and her team for putting a smile across the faces of our boys.

*All precautions and safety measures were in place during the celebration of this festival*
