“Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action. It is a holistic approach and is valuable to our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about exercise; it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.” Keeping these words of Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi in mind, the children of Bosco Boys Home, (BBH) Borivali celebrated the International Yoga Day on 22th June, 2019 at V. K. Krishna Menon, Academy, Borivali (W) with the group Yoga Hut.
Around 100 Yoga enthusiastic participants attended this event. The chief dignitaries who graced the occasion were Mr. Gopal Shetty, Member of the Parliament and Mr. Shivanand Shetty, Elected Coporator for R-Central Ward. The children of BBH were invited for this Interantional Yoga Day by the group Yoga Hut based at Shimpoli, Borivali.
Yoga Hut is a Yoga studio run by Neha Shetty, “Yoga is a way of life. It is a complete life style which triggers your thoughts, behaviour with positive vibes and helps in coping up with pressure. It promotes a very healthy way of living: to take care of your body and to take care of your mental health. Cultivating this habit from childhood is very good and to spread this awareness we invited the children of BBH. I was very much impressed by the enthusiasm and energy of the children towards this art.”
Mr. Shetty stressed the importance of Yoga by saying, “Yoga improves one’s life-span. Those whose practise this art remain young forever.”
The children were accompanied by Cl. Agnel Dias, Cl, Jittin Mathew and Social Worker Datta Gade. In all 60 children from BBH participated in this mega event. There were also many schools which practiced Yoga were invited to display the different techniques used by them. The boys from BBH were also taught some yoga techniques mixed with cardio sessions such as Zumba and Aero-Fit in the background of drum drills.
“I really enjoyed the event. I like to do yoga. It helps me to concentrate better and think positively and constructively,” shared Aman Sharma.
