August 15, 2020: Celebrating India’s 74th Independence Day at Bosco Boys  Home.

A Patriotic feeling gripped everyone,  staff and students of Bosco Boys Home this morning at 7:30 am when the Tricolour was unfurled by Mr Sachin Ghag in the presence of the Rector, Fr. Corlis, Fr. Diego, Fr. Sunil Pinto, members of the staff and management.

Mr Sachin Ghag, the chief guest at our event today is a double graduate with a Masters in Journalism, an MPSC candidate, Director, and Producer of films and a philanthropist. In a moving address to the boys of the institute this morning, he expressed how blessed he felt to be at our home. He encouraged the boys to strive towards excellence while staying humble and doing small deeds of kindness daily. He took everyone by surprise with a self-composed song which he sang towards the end of his speech.

Later our boys took the stage to enact a patriotic-themed skit and song. Mst. Aaryan gave a speech in Hindi highlighting the rich and varied culture of our motherland and spoke about the sacrifices of those freedom fighters who gave their life for the freedom of the nation.

Fr. Sunil Pinto in his concluding address thanked the members of the staff and students for the well executed programme orchestrated by Cl. Nitesh Damor and Keith Dsouza. “Freedom is not free”, he said, “We must learn to remember and cherish this beautiful nation of ours & we must all strive to do our bit to take India to greater heights.”

This afternoon, the movie GUNJAN SAXENA: The Kargil Girl, was screened for the boys of our home via Netflix.

The excitement was abuzz at Bosco Boys Home post-supper in the recreation hall since a GK QUIZ CONTEST on our country India was organised by quiz master Cl. Nitesh Damor. Every round was peppered with a lot of creativity and the 4 teams vied with each other to secure top spots in this contest. Each of the participating teams came well prepared for the event. It was indeed an evening spent in learning infused with fun and laughter.
