On the 24th of November 2019, Bosco Boys Home, (BBH) Borivali had organizedChildren’s Day with the theme “CHALO ASSAMAN KHO CHU LE”, programme to appreciate the love, smile and happiness brought by the children specially the poor and abandoned to the society and to show to the little ones how much they are loved, cared and cherished by the society.  

While welcoming the children, Fr. Corlis Gonsalves sdb the Rector and Director of BBH said, “Children are the future. Nurture them right so that they grow up to be able leaders and lead the world towards light. Children’s Day is a celebration of the innocence, positive energy and the future of our society. It is also a platform for us to realise the importance of loving the children and providing them an environment to grow and mature into responsible and God fearing adults.” Speaking on the theme ‘CHALO ASSAMAN KHO CHU LE’ he said, “We have to inspire every child to dream big in life and make them realize that everything is possible and sky’s the limit.” Reflecting on this, the management, staff along with the boys of BBH joined hands to bring joy, hope and smile to the poor and abandoned children of the locality and nearby NGO’s. The programme was attended by 15 NGO’s from the suburbs of Mumbai. There were 350 children who attended this programme along with 50 directors and 50 collaborators and 75 volunteers.

The function began at 9.00 am and was graced by the presence of the following dignitaries. Mr. Sunil Rane (MLA of Borivali constituency), Mr. Vijay Daruwala (Ex. Corporator of Vazira Naka, Borivali), and Mrs. Anjali Khedkar (Corporator of Vazira Naka, Borivali) and Dr. Priya Deokar Asst. Medical Officer (Municpal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.) The Event began by invoking God’s presence and lightening of the lamp.  Mr. Sunil Rane (MLA of Borivali constituency) who was the chief Guest on this occasion in his address appreciated the work being done by Bosco Boys Home for the underprivileged children in the city of Mumbai and also shared his personal experience in the same area. He also spoke about the importance of discipline in one’s life and how it helps in making progress and achieving success.

 The Children later participated in the fete Games constituting of various games like Separation Anxiety, Shoot the Arrow, Put the ring, etc and there were also stall displaying Technical displays from the field of Electricians, Air Conditioners and Motor Mechanics. There was a stall of Bosco Boys sharing their talents of tattoo making, face painting, hair styling and colouring with the participants. Along with the stalls there were beautiful displays of Mallakhamb and freestyle dances by the children. Simultaneously children were also encouraged and animated by the volunteers to participate in the drawing competition which was based on the YaR theme “All Rights to children” where they got opportunity to display their artistic and creative skills. After the delicious and scrumptious lunch the boys were entertained by Mr. Ravi Singh, a volunteer from the NGO Sparkling Wings through beat boxing, hip hop and lyrical dance and then a round of action songs and animated games were conducted by the volunteers of NGO UnI. The event proceeded with the cultural programme which was an excellent platform for the children to showcase their talents through dances, singing and drama. The programme was full of creativity, passion and well appreciated by the gathering.Ganesh Waghela, a boy from Ganpat Patil community centre had to say this “the programme was very enjoyable, I loved playing games, drawing and dancing….Thank you Bosco Boys Home for this wonderful programme.”“The programme was meticulously planned and executed, I congratulate Bosco Boys management and the staff for their dedication and commitment towards the Youth at Risk (YAR)” said Krisha Gandhi from a volunteer from St. Xaviers College.

The event concluded with the prize distribution and vote of thanks by Mr. Romero D’Souza, the principal of the Technical Institute and the main man behind success of the event. It was his thoughtful idea and the continuous boost which helped the staff to plan, organize and execute the entire event successfully.A special token of extended gratitude was extented towards all the participants, the staff of all NGO’s present, the volunteers, benefactors, well-wishers and the DJ for the event Mr. Jeremiah Kinny and the staff of Bosco Boys for their contribution towards the success of the Programme by Mr. D’Souza.The children along with all those present left the place with many happy and cherished memories.
