MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 28, 2019:

On September 28, 2019, The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai R-Central ward, Borivali West, Mumbai in collaboration with Bosco Boys Home (BBH) organised a Medical social awareness health camp to administer to the boys and the staff of BBH, the awareness about the spread of the Common skin infections like fungus, scabies and leprosy, etc. The resource persons for the sessions were Dr. Vijaya Ahire, Dr. Priya Deokar both Asst. Medical Officer MCGM and Mrs. Nilima Dharmangaonkar a Skin Technician.Father Corlis Gonsalves, Rector of the institute, welcomed the team of Doctors and the team. Father Gonsalves thanked them for their kind initiative and service offered to the institute. The camp was organised as a preventive measure to help boys build up their immune system, so as to remain healthy during the monsoons.Dr. Priya Deoka addressed the gathering about the common skin infection diseases, the causes, symptoms and the remedies to be followed. She explained in detail about scabies, and fungal bacterial infections mostly commonly occurring in Monsoon. An interactive session was then held by Dr. Vijaya Ahire, in which the importance of hygiene and the basic cleanliness of one’s body and surrounding was explained. Few of the points discussed were the need to take regular bath, brushing teeth, cutting the nails, wearing clean and dry clothes were discussed. Mrs. Nilima Dharmangaonkar explained to the students about leprosy and the signs to detect it in the earlier stages.

The input session ended with a vote of thanks given by Anand Surukar “Thank you for sharing with us this valuable information and spending your precious time with us. We are grateful to you and whole heartily appreciate your kindness shown to us. From now on we will be cautious and aware and protect our self against these diseases.”Dr. Vijaya Ahire concluding the session said, “We are thankful the management and the staff for giving us the opportunity to take the session for the boys. The boys were very disciplined and attentive throughout the session. We would love to take sessions for these boys every month and You can also get your sick boys to Primary Health Centre MHB for treatment.”
