Bosco Boys Home in collaboration with Mobai Gaothan Sanstha and Mr. Sanjay Shinde who holds the licences for boating activity under the banner of Dolphin Boating inaugurated the Don Bosco Water Sports Academy at Gorai jetty on 1st June’2015 at 5.00 pm.
The Chief guest to the occasion was Hon. Shri Gopal Shetty – MP . Other invitees on the dais  were Fr. Donald – Principal of Don Bosco, Borivali, Fr. Anthony Santarita – Director, Bosco Boys Home, Mr. Rossi Dsouza – Sarpanch of Gorai, Senior Inspector – Mr. Patil and Fr. Jeffery Fernandes.
Several cooperators and Parishners, Youth from Gorai and people from Gorai village were present for the occasion. After the felicitation with flowers, Fr. Anthony Santarita explained to the people the purpose of starting this project and the beneficiaries of this activities.
Mr. Gopal Shetty reinforced the idea that the locals should start such small activities and businesses in their localities. In time to come they will become profitable ventures. Fr. Donald told the young people that they should take this opportunity to help themselves of the facilities available to them. Mr. Rossi thanked the MP for his whole hearted support and cooperation not only for this project but also for the development of Gorai people. After cutting of the ribbon Mr. Gopal Shetty and all those present on the dais took a boat ride on the new cruise boat.
For a start we have introduced two water scooters with outboard engines and a 8 seater cruise boat. Very soon we will also introduce wind surfing training. In the first week of July we will be training 24 people from Gorai, Manori and Uttan for “SOLAS” (Saving of Life at Sea). This is a US Marine Based Module for training lifeguards. This training is imparted by NIWS (National Institute of Water Sports). This is one of our outreach programme of Bosco Boys Home towards empowering marginalised Youth ad training them in sustainable income activity.
